Sony Alpha 77: Improved EVF

Still, nobody knows if Sony will name Alpha 750 or Alpha 77 its new SLR camera, but the rumor wind in the alleys of the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas that Sony a definitely chosen the semi-transparent mirror (SLT / Pellix) technology and an electronic viewfinder (EVF).

Sony Alpha 77

If the viewfinders of the Sony Alpha SLT-A33 and SLT-A55 have been frowned upon by the most experienced photographers, Sony -in under cover murmurs- repeats that the new Alpha SLT-77 will contain a much improved viewfinder (compared to the current technology level). The resolution would probably not increase (or not a lot) but the image quality would be strongly improved with a lesser sensitivity to high-lights blooming and a better contrast.

the part which seems not to be coming from Sony leaks but from the dreams of a few photographers is the digital photo sensor. We hear things to be classified as astounding and which would be ridiculous if it was not about the sensor from Sony (a company that proved its aptitude to create amazingly good sensors in APS-C as well as in Full Frame). I heard 25 MP in APS-C form factor and a sensitivity around the ISO 100.000 target (the aim has been set by the Nikon D3s and its Full Frame sensor, no less).

If you ask “When?” I’d suggest some patience: Even if the president for Sony Entertainment offered a possible date of September at the PMA, April or May 2011 are the best estimates for the launch of the Sony Alpha 77.
