Your guess may be right but... Sony already stated that they were moving from this SSS button. They believe that it is not needed by the users (I tend to agree with them but that's beyond the point).

Furthermore, a single round push button is quite different from what Sony users have seen in the past (a sliding button).

Still sticking to it?

Sounds nice... but... You forgot one important thing....

Where's the SuperSteadyShot button?

My guess is that the one you refer as the Fn Button is actually the SSS button (on/off).
Then... the one you refer as the "Menu" will probably be the Fn button....
Finally... the button on the left side of the screen, that you didn't mentioned, is the Menu button!

Kudos OldClicker! We did not see it, and it's pretty sure that this additional button on the left of the viewfinder would be the "Menu" button (like on the A55). Now, this leaves one button unmarked on the right of the display.

Any idea?

Shibs,
Yes. Sony had said previously that the SSS button would no longer appear on most (if not all) of its cameras. Assuredly, this is not the most important button (or the button most important for most people). Could be generating some complaints, but these are already acceptable by Sony.

It looks like an interesting camera with PROPER manual controls. The only thing I don't understand is the top LCD. If the back LCD and EVF provide adequate data, what's the top LCD for?

Hmmm... I'm assuming that it has an EVF. Is that correct?

Thanks,

Thomas, the Sony A77 is definitely a camera for more than the entry-level photographer. These people (it appears that most YLovePhoto readers are such experts or enthusiasts) want performance, efficiency and ease-of-use at the time of shooting the picture.

Buttons are definitely needed for us. And Sony understood this part of the specification.

However, there is still a significant possibility that Sony is presenting here a prototype, a mock-up or anything that is not exactly identical to the final form of the Sony Alpha SLT-A77. We will only know when we go from the marketing buzz to actual pictures or actual cameras.
