    Samyang is back: 35mm f/1.4 & 8mm f/3.5 fish-eye

Apparently, Samyang has solved most of the issues it had with supplying raw glass from Japan for its new lenses. The Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Fish-eye CS VG10 lens, designed for the Sony NEX-VG10 large-sensor, is announced and immediately shipping. Also, the Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC manual-focus lens is available for both Canon and Nikon.

  • PMA/CliQ: A new date, without help from Japan

The news event (so we are told) is that the PMA Show (organized by the Photo Marketing Association) has just been moved from September 2011 to January 2012. But is it really because of the pressure put on them by the March events in Japan? I dare say NO. While it’s true to say that…

  • Nikon D800, not right now

According to the Spanish webzine QUESABESDE.COM, Nikon has clarified (at least internally) what to do with the upcoming replacement of the Nikon D700 (FX large sensor with a high sensitivity). Because of the impact of the Japanese earthquake on the Sendai plant normally used to work on the pro SLR cameras of Nikon, the future…

Mother’s Day is on us. And Father’s Day, too. And if our parents are not strictly as enthusiastic about photography as we are, they probably don’t want to lug around a big SLR camera but they did not fail in asking for advice on what camera they should pick. It’s time to answer with the…

  • New features in Photoshop CS6

Obviously, Photoshop CS6 is not available yet (CS5.5 has just been announced) but it is already possible to sweep through the information already available from various sources (some official, some not) about this next generation of Photoshop. Some isolated elements have already been disclosed by Adobe in public shows and some have been revealed (or…

  • Peikwen Cheng

Gai, which means to build or to transform in Chinese, explores the dramatic physical transformation of China as it takes its place on the world’s stage. China is building itself (or should we say “rebuilding itself”). Peikwen Cheng is actively documenting this situation with an eye for architecture, composition, construction and structure. Peikwen Cheng’s web…
